CLASS TYPES

Fundamentals Classes

These classes develop a solid core of cardio and strength training alongside the introduction of the basic building blocks of the sport of Muay Thai including: hand and foot positions (stance), basic combinations and Muay Thai techniques and simple attack and defence combinations. These classes are ideal for beginners and a great review for intermediate and competitive-minded students.

Intermediate/Fundamentals SPLIT

These classes are for students with a higher level of fitness. Conditioning is more demanding than fundamental and open classes, rounds on the heavy bag are often four minutes (instead of three). More advanced technique in attack, defence and footwork are taught; combinations are more complex. Students at the fundamental level are welcome to attend and work to their comfort level during the conditioning session. The conditioning element is executed by the class as a whole, but the Muay Thai technique component is delivered at both the intermediate and fundamental level.

Sparring

Sparring time is available. Please speak to Kru James if you are interested in attending these sessions.

Open Classes

These classes can be attended by all students (beginners should attend as many fundamental classes as possible). Half of the class is conditioning, and half is instruction in traditional Muay Thai technique. Each student will be trained up to his or her level to ensure steady development. Intermediate techniques are introduced in this class to those who are ready to progress.

Conditioning Classes

These classes use body weight and dumbbells, running, calisthenics and core work to support each student’s personal fitness regime. There is no Muay Thai instruction in conditioning classes.

Circuit Classes

These classes are demanding and great for athletic performance. Drills are run in three minute rounds from station to station. These classes include: bag work, skipping, conditioning, shadow boxing, and punching stand work.
